CVB welcomes Price, earns accreditation and announces higher occupancy rates
On January 3, 2011 the
Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB)
welcomed its new President & CEO, Doug Price CAE, IOM.
In December 2010, the CVB received accreditation from its parent organization, Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI). By receiving accreditation, the CVB demonstrated a commitment to quality programs and services as well as best practices within the industry. The CVB is one of just 121 destinations in the world to receive this accreditation and the only other CVB in the state besides Denver.
In 2010, local hotels achieved the highest occupancy rate in the past eight years. According to the Rocky Mountain Lodging Report, the occupancy rate rose to 60.9 percent last year from 56.6 percent in 2009. This is the highest annual jump since 1994.
