- 2005 local primary job layoffs and closures number over 800, year to date.
- Economic development professionals completed nearly 100 personal visits to local primary employers, through the Business Retention and Expansion Visitation (BREV) Program in 2005. The companies visited requested assistance with 94 different issues, each of which were reported to and addressed by the Economic Vitality Group. Because of the group’s tremendous collaboration, the EVG has reported an 89% issue resolution rate for the employers. These issues, such as local regulation, workforce, transportation and incentives, have been resolved to the satisfaction of the company that reported them. The Economic Vitality Group is a partnership between EDC, The City of Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado Springs Utilities, The Chamber of Commerce, The State Office of Economic Development, The Office of International Affairs, Colorado College, Pikes Peak Community College, UCCS, and the Pikes Peak Workforce Center. Click here to find out more about the BREV program.
- The 2006 Job Growth Forecast for Colorado Springs is projected to be 3,000 (1.9%) to 8,000 (2.7%), according to local economist Dave Bamberger.
