State of Colorado Announces New Grant Programs

The State of Colorado has recently announced the following programs:

  • Solar Innovation Grant
    The Governor's Energy Office (GEO) is seeking grant
    applicants for $350,000 in incentives for solar innovation
    projects. The "Solar Innovation Grant" funds are being
    made available through the Clean Energy Fund.

  • Bioscience Grant Program
    Governor Bill Ritter signed into law a measure that will
    provide $26.5 million to expand Colorado's bioscience
    industry by expediting the transfer of research from the
    lab to the marketplace. More Information


    Colorado Springs Energy Bills Second Lowest in Colorado
    Colorado Springs residents pay a typical combined electric and natural gas bill of $121 a month compared to an average of $141 for other Colorado residents. More Information

    • Colorado Springs ranked 5th "Best Cities to Live, Work and Play," by Kiplinger's Personal Finance. The study included population growth, income growth, job growth, job quality and the existence of a "creative class" when making the rankings. More Information
    • Colorado Springs ranked 11th in the nation’s top 20 cities for relocation among “mid-sized metro areas.” The ranking, by Worldwide ERC, included job growth for 2007, percentage of nearby top-ranked colleges, average in-state tuition for four-year public colleges, percentage of population growth since 2000, number of pediatricians per 100,000 population and separate sales and income tax categories.

    • Colorado Springs ranked 11th best place to build a data center, according to a study by The Boyd Co., Inc. Power costs, abundant supply of highly educated workers, availability of government-approved training programs and a low risk of natural disasters were categories in the study. More Information
    • Colorado Springs ranked 28th best place to live and launch by CNNMoney.com. The study included interviewing entrepreneurs, local officials, and business experts to identify towns with the strongest small-business programs (such as tax incentives or favorable zoning regimes) and the most appealing leisure resources (such as a lively downtown, great fishing, or beautiful parks).
